I'd love the ability to issue my pet a move command to an area near me. I don't care if it picks it's own targets. I don't care if it decides to stand and look at me getting beaten to death every second fight. But for the love of god, I can't take him getting in my way every single time anymore, I've already lost count of the times I died that way both in pve and pvp.

I was thinking about something like ctrl + left click on the ground to issue a move command and ctrl + right click to issue an attack command, this could also be limited to the very near vicinity (I'd be happy with 5 meters), or perhaps a variable based off Beast Mastery skill to prevent it from being exploited.

No offense, but that's bull****. Are you a ranger? Have you ever even had to deal with a pet, or are you just being a smartass without having any pet experience because you think you sound cool? I don't mean to sound so rude but I'm a little upset that people who don't even have to deal with the problem think it's fine. It IS an issue and it DOES need to be fixed.

When I get stuck in the middle of my pet, so we're literally occupying the exact point in space, THAT is not normal and needs to be fixed. You're taking the "remove pet collision" argument completely out of context. The reason to remove detection is you don't get STUCK on it, not so you can move through your pet.

And yes, making pet AI smarter would fix the problem, but the fact of the matter is people were simply suggesting the quickest fix. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that.

the collision detection is a major part of the combat in the game. removing it from pets would give you something that can move through any other character. you can target something in the distance and have your pet run through any blocking characters. this is a good fix to you?

it's a pet, it get's in the way.

getting stuck in the pet? yes that sounds like a problem. but you are the only person in this thread to state this. it sounds like most people in this thread just want to be able to walk through their pet, which was what i was commenting on. what sort of connection are you using? your problem might be due to lag.

and yes. I was being a smartass because i thought it made me sound cool. from your response I can tell that I really am cool.

can you dig it?

*sigh* It has absolutely nothing to do with lag. My character model and pet model, like I stated, occupy the same point in space and thus my character will not move to attack unless I first click elsewhere on the ground. For the people who've posted this problem, I'm sure it's the same issue they're having. This consistently happens after I finish killing one monster and go to attack another.

There is a major problem with the clipping between a pet and his master. If you have not played a ranger with a pet before, chances are you haven't a clue about it. 90% of the time, here's how it goes:
Target closest, attack.
That enemy dies.
Your pet runs straight back to you while you target the next enemy.
You try to attack next enemy, your %*#(%@ pet is standing there on top of you, and neither of you can move UNTIL you click somewhere behind or to the left or right of you.

ALSO outside of combat, I like to explore around. GOD forbid I get too close to an invisible wall or even worse a corner - without fail my pet will block me against the wall and I will have to either wait until it decides to get out of the effing way or if I am lucky target an enemy and attack. If there isn't an enemy on radar, oh well, guess I have to sit here with my thumb in my ass until the damn pet decides to wander off. This has taken anywhere from a few seconds to literal minutes.

not just that...theres a surprising amount of clipping and getting stuck in stuff in general. In PvE its not so bad because you just get someone to run through a gate and you're fine...its absolutely annoying but not too game killing. Yet in PvP when you're in the middle of an intense fight, its terrible.

Both me and my friend lagged while in tombs at the same time...and both of us got stuck in a rock in about the space of 5 seconds. We could not move at all during the rest of the game. When my teammates died, I couldn't help them. When my friend who was stuck in the same rock barely 5 feet away from me died, I couldn't rez him. I just waited for the inevitable...until someone meteor showered me...and no I couldn't run away.

...that sir...is absolute bull. After that the laggy hitboxes and rate abuse in CS almost seems like a blessing

if you are in a melee fight with monsters. and you target a monster that you cannot reach, the same thing happens. improve the pathing? sure. removing collison detection is not a good idea.

getting stuck 'in' the pet I agree is a problem. but besides you (and the person who replied while i was typing this) everyone else seems to just want to walk through their pet to get to the next enemy.

due to the collision detection in this game you do have to move around to get in a good position for combat. having a pet there with you would appear to cause you to move around more.

i agree this might be annoying, but it sounds pretty realistic.

when i get a chance i'll mess around with my character that has a pet and see if I can get it stuck in a fight.
but I often move around in fights anyway, so if the fix for this is to move around the pet, i don't think it's that much of a problem.

but i could be wrong.
and still very cool.
